How to Install Solar Panels on Home

Solar panels are entering into new era of usability and practicality. Solar panels are usually installed on the roof of homes. If you have enough space to entertain these panels then it is possible to install them on ground also.

Ground is normally used in villages  because you have enough space there but in case of urban areas, people always go for mounting their solar panels on the roofs of the buildings. While installing the solar panel you have to make sure that the sunlight hits the panel with full intensity at that angle.

Also you have to make sure that your solar panel is maximally effective by the sunlight round the whole year. While installing a solar panel on your home you have to keep following things in mind: ( Note: This is general information, always consult or read manufacturer's information about installing panels)

  1.   Before purchasing a solar panel determine how much electricity you want to  produce by the panels and then go for that amount of panels. This will save you reasonable amount of money.
  2. If you want to install panels on inclined roof then you need different type of mounts as compared to mounts used while installation on the ground. Always purchase the mounts which are suitable in your case.
  3. Locate the position on your roof where you want to install panels. Measure the space required for your particular panels. Always go for the twine or laser sight to determine the correct alignment of your panels.
  4. Pre-drill holes are required for the prevention of your rafters while drilling. For this purpose pilot bit can be used.
  5. Lag bolts would be used for holding your panels on the roof.
  6. Now rails have to be attached with the panels using bolts. Bolts size is often taken as 3/8 inches.
  7. Install the solar panels along with rails on the roof. Make sure that these panels are secured and safely installed.
  8. Now connect the solar panels to the converter in your house.

Precautions

  1. Always consult an expert before solar panel installation. He will give you the correct advice on what type of mounting and angle is best for you in order to achieve effective output.
  2. Intensity of the sunlight is not same at a single place throughout the year. Place your panels in such a position that panels are perfectly exposed to sunlight. Make sure that there are no obstacles between your panels and sun. If there are obstacles then you need to remove them away.
  3. Contact your electricity providers before installation of solar panels because there are some formalities you have to meet in order to use this facility.
  4. Rooftop mounting can also be dangerous. You need to have a proper backup in case of an accident.
